Letter From Published author Carol Gee:

Like her heroine Rachel, the author Latonya Peterson knows what it is like to weather the storms of life. However, through perseverance much like her character, she continues to triumph. The Cradle Robber takes readers on a roller coaster ride of emotions and ultimately they fall in love with Rachel; who much like Ms. Peterson finds her own truth as a daughter, as a mother, and as a woman.
A must-read!

(Based on Review of 76 cases)

Dr. Harold Buttram:

“Among the many adversities facing the American family today, there is a relatively new and growing hazard to parent or caretaker: being falsely accused of injuring or murdering an infant by the Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS), when the true case of death or injury arises from other sources. Tragically, child abuse does occur and deserves appropriate punishment. However, it is equally tragic when a family, already grieving from the death of their infant, finds a father or mother unjustly accused, convicted, and imprisoned for murder of the infant, a murder of which he or she is innocent. Only those who have observed these events can appreciate their devastating effects upon on these families.” Please review Dr. Harold Buttram research further. Above is his e-mail address.

Latonya Peterson’s message starts here:

Unfair Justice: (Poem: “My People,” stands for every human that share this planet).

Unloosen your chains and let my brother’s and sister’s go free. You were wrong when you put them in jail and threw away the key. I’m telling you today- that I will never go away. This unfair use of justice is on trial today. Give it up! Let them go free. I swear to my father that you will constantly have to contend with me.

Their only crime was that they were poor nothing more. That’s why we have millions of poor folk of all races behind the systems Steele doors. Unloosen your grip on my people. Put down that damn whip! We seek justice today and we will never go away.

You stated that when her child died the mother never cried? Was that observed only during the time - when you were charging her with the crime? A mother charged for not protecting her child? Her folks say that with the news of his death that mother cried out loud…

You say that a young man was hanging on the block. At the same time another man was killed with a Glock? He had no powder burns on his hand. But, he was arrested because he ran from the man… There’s nothing new about my people running from you. We know that the man - will lock you up cause he can.

Unloosen your chains and let my brother’s and sister’s go free. You were wrong when you locked them up and threw away the key. I’m telling you now that we will never go away. This unfair system of justice is on trial today!

Real Talk
• Innocent people are suffering in our current system of Justice…
Happy Moment:
Over a year ago I decided to pursue my life goal and desire of writing books and composing songs. I was excited and full of hope and enthusiasm about the future. I prayed continuously that the public would love my stories as much as I enjoyed writing all seventeen of them. God truly blessed me with a special gift of writing about life experiences and of creating songs of love, peace and inspiration and I am eternally grateful.

Seventeen years I spent as a Social Worker; 15 in Child Protection; a job I took very serious and a job I truly loved because it allowed me an opportunity to participate in protecting our children and of helping families in need. God decided that it was time for a change and I published my debut novel of inspiration entitled, The Cradle Robber. All praises to God for every career success I accomplish as one of his vessels…

Tragedy

I was so excited about my book approaching its final phase of production when I learned that my seven-week-old grandson had stopped breathing and had died. Though the publishing company was sensitive they were running a business and insisted that I approve the final draft of my novel. So, absent of mind- I rushed through the pages and approved the final draft of The Cradle Robber. I must admit I was rather pleased with the book despite some oversights on my part in terms of typos and as a newly published author I now have great advice to up and coming writers such as; marry and editor or at least befriend one (smile). Also, never allow anyone to rush your masterpiece for your work is a reflection of who you are. Still I encourage everyone to read The Cradle Robber because it is a fine book and Rachel; the main character is a very strong woman and her life experience will truly inspirer those that have been victimized by someone in their life. Despite the minor flaws/ typos readers have informed me that they could not put the book down; that’s a good sign and music to an authors ears. I actually am requesting that everyone please purchase the book; two and three copies if possible in order that I may hire a strong attorney and we may save another victim that is locked behind the Steele bars of justice awaiting trial; my daughter.

My daughter was wrongfully arrested and jailed on 11/13/08, after she told detectives that she wanted to continue cooperating and would feel more comfortable speaking with them in the presence of an attorney. That conversation occurred after she had suffered interrogation by detectives on the same day she learned that her son was dead… Gone forever! Also, after she discovered that the system was attempting to take her healthy and beautiful then, sixteen month old daughter from her and us. We have that child and I am happy to report that she was assessed as an “intellectually above average child with no physical deformities or old bruises.”   During the unauthorized examination of her daughter not even a scratch was located on her body… So, I guess this young mother was doing a great job raising her children?

Nevertheless the mother and the baby father were jailed for suspicion of murder and currently are sitting in jail waiting for an indictment and trial. I want to share with the world the struggle this mother and her maternal family went through to assure that her son survived. The mother was on bed rest for twenty-three hours a day for three months because her son Brian was at risk of dying. Brian initially was a twin but the sibling was never born because at nine weeks gestation he died due to amino acids leaking from his sack. Even though the mother’s blood pressure was out of whack and she could have lost her own life she was determined to give birth to her son and she did. The family assisted her every need and we were rewarded with a gift from heaven. God gave her a son and me my only grandson. For seven wonderful weeks we enjoyed him and loved him and then he was no more.

My daughter was very proud of Brian and after a couple of weeks of selfishly enjoying him we opened up the circle so that everyone could see and nurture Brian; including his father. My daughter understood that Brian required the nurturance of his father as well so she allowed them to bond. The system believes that the father took his life and that my daughter;” knows more than she is sharing about the death.” So, because they suspect that the mother has information she is subjected to the same hideous charges of murder and abuse and has spent over one hundred and eighty days in a detention center for adults. She was deprived of attending her own son’s funeral… Imagine that even after she is released that moment is forever erased. She must now say goodbye standing at his gravesite instead of in that warm atmosphere that I created before laying my grandson to rest in the children’s garden of angel’s. I am at peace because I know that fallen angel’s return home. God assured me of my grandson’s safe arrival to heaven…

Autopsy

The autopsy revealed bruises and a fracture. I uncovered numerous medical reports that offered other reasons aside from abuse that could be the causation of a subdural hematoma diagnosis such as Bristle bone syndrome, Barlow’s disease in infants and numerous other causes; each referencing that bruises and fractures were a significant finding in every case. Aside from a medical reason I know that the examiner wasn’t aware that three different people attempted to revive Brian once he stopped breathing. The father was alone in another area of my home with Brian on that fatal day that he stopped breathing and he stated that prior to informing the other household members that his son wasn’t breathing he attempted CPR. Once the other three member’s of the home; including the mother was alerted of the situation my nephew a college football player standing 6’3 and weighing over 250 pounds attempted to revive Brian while receiving instructions from 911 emergency operators. He admittedly isn’t trained in CPR and witnesses state that he initially was pressing hard down on this little preemies body; trying to save him. My nephew had to be redirected by another member in the home at the time to press softer not as you would an adult. My sweet grandson Brian received a third CPR attempt by the trained paramedics once they arrived at the home but he was dead and never regained consciousness. Witnesses reported that his mother was very emotional and understandably “a basket case.”

My Plea

I have written to the President of the United States of America, Senators, NAACP, Governor, Mayor, Medical Examiner, Several Judges, Oprah Winfrey, Newspaper staff, radio station guiros, and the Circuit Defenders office. Imagine a common working class citizen with no financial clout writing all those people with the power to intervene and investigate to assure that justice prevails? Writing those letters really felt promising and powerful - accept; so far no one has answered… (?)
One Hundred and eighty days in jail and innocent is quite a long time. Initially, I was the unlicensed examiner, lawyer, forensic specialist and everything else in my attempt to assist the system at finding the true reason for my grandson’s death. God said to me to be patient and remain strong for he had another mission for me and that he would oversee my daughter’s case. I asked God would she be able to continue to pursue her education in her medical program? Will my daughter be sane in the aftermath? God answer was; “The Victory is mine!”

I have written seventeen fiction novels in the past two years and I have over fifty songs because my goal was to laugh for the next century and to create laughter in my readers because each of our lives are full of challenges, trial and tribulations and laughter helps. Currently I have a two story compilation full of humor: There’s One Nut in Every Family and Make Me Feel Good: You Must Define Your Own Self Worth, which I still plan to release… I would gladly give every book away to free my daughter and to research this major problem of injustice that currently exists in our justice system. I asked God if this was the price that had to be paid to enlighten fellow citizens’ of the injustice. I was lead by God to my computer and I began typing. I believe this is a non-fiction work and that God has chosen me to write about this terrifying problem. Immediately the title was born: I’m Still Standing: In a Battle for Justice. My fingers rapidly hit the keys and forty thousand words later I understood that my desire and God’s order were different. I told God that I would write the painful story about this phantom that has knocked at my families’ door.

This is a call out to every victim. Please write to me and share your story? Tell me what happen to you in your battle for justice? Tell me about a relative that are still recovering emotionally from their experience in the hands of the justice system. People that have been wrongfully convicted of child abuse on every level please share your stories with me. God has spoken and we must answer. Those offered a plea bargain could write to me as well. I now understand what that really means. Those interested in assisting me with my research should write and anyone with knowledge or authority to assist with my daughter’s unfortunate circumstances should write to me as well. Please label your message; “Victory is mine.”

A Mother’s Plea

Yes, I plead with you fellow citizen’s and humans to do one deed to assist me and that is to purchase my novel; The Cradle Robber; at www.Amazon.com, www.Barnesandnoble.com, www.Publishamerica.com, or at your local Barnes and noble or other bookstores; to assist me to get my daughter out of that cold jail; where innocent people should never venture, but where she is currently being held on a $100,000.00 bond. Also, buy the novel to assure that she receives proper legal representation so that those unlawful chains are loosened. Finally, I need funds to assist me with my research about the other millions of victims that are stuck behind those Steele doors of injustice. Krystol currently has a very pleasant public defender that has many more cases to defend. Help me save one and I assure you that my life work will be to raise the consciousness of the many innocent people/parents that are still locked behind the Steele doors of the Justice system.

Send me articles: Latonyawrites@hotmail.com , Latonyawrites@Makemefeelgoodproductions.org , or P.O. Box 55021, Atlanta, GA 30308. I will soon establish a telephone line or blog to accept even more stories. Let’s stand together and send a message to the justice system to “Unloosen their chains,” The injustice that occurs too often must stand trial and we must make them aware that we common, and hardworking folk will never go away or turn our back on our brother’s and sister’s. If we won’t monitor our own system then who will? Thank you and God bless you…
